US Producer Price Index for Final Demand Increases 0.5% in December

On Friday, the US Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand rose 0.5% in December on a seasonally adjusted basis, following increases of 0.2% in November and 0.1% in October.

On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand rose 3.0% in 2025, after increasing 3.5% in 2024.

The December gain was driven by a 0.7% increase in prices for final demand services. Prices for final demand goods were unchanged during the month.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 0.4% in December, marking its eighth consecutive monthly increase. Prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services rose 3.5% in 2025, following a 3.6% increase in 2024.
