S&P Cotality Case-Shiller Index Reports 0.8% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in April

On Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI) released the S&P Cotality Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index, formerly known as the S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Indices. Year-over-year, the Index posted a 0.8% gain in April, up from a 0.7% gain in March.

The 10-City Composite rose 1.8% annually, compared with a 1.5% increase in March. The 20-City Composite advanced 1.1% year-over-year, up from a 0.9% gain the previous month.

Among the 20 cities, Chicago recorded the largest annual increase at 6.5%, followed by New York (3.8%) and Cleveland (3.2%). Seattle registered the weakest return with a 2.3% decline.

Before seasonal adjustment, the US National Index rose 0.8% month-over-month. The 10-City Composite rose 1.1%, and the 20-City Composite increased 1.0%.

After seasonal adjustment, the National Index fell 0.1% month-over-month, while the 10-City Composite rose 0.04% and the 20-City Composite declined 0.04%.
