S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller Index Reports 3.9% Annual Gain in US Home Prices in September

On Tuesday, S&P Dow Jones Indices released its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index for September. The Index, covering all nine US census divisions, posted an annual gain of 3.9% in September, down from a 4.3% increase in August.

The 10-City Composite posted an annual increase of 5.2% in September, down from a 6.0% increase in August. The 20-City Composite climbed 4.6% year-over-year, dropping from a 5.2% increase in the previous month.

New York again reported the highest annual gain among the 20 cities with a 7.5% increase in September, followed by Cleveland and Chicago with increases of 7.1% and 6.9%, respectively. Denver posted the smallest year-over-year growth at 0.2%.

The pre-seasonally adjusted US National Index, 20-City Composite, and 10-City Composite upward trends continued to reverse in September, with a 0.1% drop for the national index and the 20-City and 10-City Composites posting 0.3% and 0.4% monthly declines, respectively.

After seasonal adjustment, the US National Index increased 0.3% month-over-month in September, while the 20-City and 10-City Composites increased 0.2% and 0.1%, respectively.
