US National Interagency Fire Center Wildfire Update for April 10

The US National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC) reported that in the week ending Friday, April 10, 98 new wildfires were reported, including 4 classified as large fires. Currently, 8 large fires are burning uncontained.

The National Fire Preparedness Level remains at 2 out of 5. A total of 770 personnel are assigned nationwide.

Daily Statistics

As of Friday, 2 large new wildfires or emergency responses were reported. In total, 7 large wildfires are active, covering 13,665 acres.

Florida leads with 4 active fires; Alabama, North Carolina, and Texas each have 1.

The updated year-to-date comparison is as follows:

  • Year-to-date through April 10, 19,102 wildfires have been reported, burning 1,707,778 acres.
  • During the same period last year, 17,400 wildfires were reported, burning 822,951 acres.
  • The 10-year average (2015–24) for the same period is 12,174 wildfires and 788,185 acres burned.
