Forests Canada Supports Planting of Nearly 3.7 Million Trees in 2026

On Monday, Forests Canada announced that it has supported the planting of nearly 3.7 million trees across the country in 2026 as part of its efforts to conserve, restore, and grow Canada’s forests.

Since launching its tree planting program in 2004, the national charity has completed more than 10,852 restoration projects with thousands of landowners across Canada and has supported the planting of more than 54 million trees.

Forests Canada works through a national network of planting partners, seed collectors, nurseries, regional field advisors, forestry specialists, conservation groups, and community partners.

Commenting on the 2026 planting season, Forests Canada Chief Executive Officer Jess Kaknevicius said:

“While the numbers are impressive, we are proudest of the forest recovery system we have built and continually improve year over year—it’s a unique system that considers every stage from seed collection and seedling production to planting, stewardship, and long-term forest resilience. With the help of our partners, we are growing hope, building ecosystems, and advocating for healthy forests that benefit Canada’s people, economy, and wildlife.”
