BLM Pumpkin Pi Timber Sale in Oregon Sets New Board Footage Record

On Tuesday, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) reported that its 400-acre Pumpkin Pi Timber Sale brought in nearly $10.6 million and will produce 23.5 million board feet of timber. The sale surpassed the previous record by nearly 5.5 million board feet.

“This record-breaking timber sale is a major boon for western Oregon’s economy,” BLM Director Steve Pearce said. “Beyond the revenue shared with 18 counties, this sale will generate more than $70 million in local economic activity.”

Throughout August, BLM sold more than 40 million board feet of timber across roughly 1,400 acres in western Oregon, generating more than $17 million.

BLM manages 2.4 million acres of forest and said its forestry and timber program supports domestic timber supply, jobs, wildfire risk reduction, and fish and wildlife habitat. In western Oregon, timber revenues from Oregon and California lands are shared between the US Treasury and 18 counties.
