Kronospan Announces Construction of a New, State-of-the-Art OSB Mill in Oxford, Alabama

Kronospan, a producer of wood panel products, announced Tuesday (4-25-23) that it will begin construction of a new, state-of-the-art oriented strand board (OSB) manufacturing plant to be located on its 460-acre site in Oxford, Alabama.

According to the press release, the new facility will employ 125 associates and will have a footprint comprised of 44 acres of new development, including substantial areas designated for product storage, a rail spur, and loading docks. Groundbreaking on the new $350 million facility is scheduled for later this year.

This latest expansion is one of several investments Kronospan has made in recent months. New equipment for the site includes an extension of its existing medium-density fiberboard (MDF) press, a new water treatment facility, expansion of manufacturing capacities of its existing particle board plant, as well as the ongoing construction of new wood yard.

Over the past six months, capital projects totaling over $89 million have occurred or are currently in progress at the Oxford site, the company said.
