Sinclar Group Announces Curtailments at Its Apollo, Lakeland, and Nechako Facilities

Sinclar Group Forest Products Ltd. announced on Monday (5-1-23) that is curtailing operations for various periods of time over the next few months at its Apollo Forest Products in Fort St. James, Lakeland Mills in Prince George, and Nechako Lumber Co. in Vanderhoof, British Columbia.

According to the press release, the curtailments are necessary to maintain log inventory and draw down rough lumber inventories at the three operations in the face of the dual challenge of high fiber costs and low lumber prices. The company has also indicated that it will continue to evaluate conditions on an ongoing basis and adjust operations as necessary.

The curtailment schedule is as follows:

  • Nechako Lumber Co. will be curtailed from May 14th to July 29th
  • Apollo Forest Products will be curtailed from June 4th to June 30th
  • Lakeland Mills will be curtailed from July 2nd to July 29th

Sinclar said that its Premium Pellet operation in Vanderhoof will continue to run, and Lakeland will continue to provide heat to the Prince George Downtown Renewable Energy System.
