Ontario Sawmill Launches CA$5 Million Modernization Project
Bernie McGlynn Lumber is launching a CA$5.3 million expansion near Mildmay, Ontario, to double its production space, increase output by nearly 50%, and modernize equipment, CTV News reported (6-16-26).
The project includes a new 30,000-square-foot building and a thermal kiln that the company said will allow it to produce outdoor decking.
The province’s Forestry Sector Investment and Innovation Program is contributing $1.6 million to the project.
The sawmill and flooring company has operated since 1964 and is preparing for a third-generation ownership transition to Bernie and Doreen McGlynn’s children.
“The excitement is pretty, pretty big between my sister and brother, and I. We’ve been a part of it our whole lives, and to be given an opportunity by our parents, means a lot to us, to keep the ball rolling,” said Luke McGlynn, future co-owner of Bernie McGlynn Lumber/South Bruce Flooring.
