Ontario Invests CA$10 Million in Georgia-Pacific’s Englehart OSB Facility

On Tuesday, Ontario announced a CA$10 million (US$7.3 million) investment in Georgia-Pacific North Woods to advance a CA$191 million (US$129.2 million) modernization project at the company’s OSB facility in Englehart, Ontario.

The project is expected to support increased production of Ontario-made wood products while protecting more than 220 jobs and hundreds of indirect positions in the region. The province said the investment is part of its broader effort to support forest-sector businesses facing US tariffs.

Ontario’s contribution through the Forest Biomass Program will help fund upgrades to log-processing operations, construction of new facilities, expansion of on-site storage, and installation of new equipment. Once completed, the project is expected to increase production capacity by 14%.

Georgia-Pacific also plans to install a thermal energy system that will use wood by-products for heat and power generation, supporting fiber utilization and sustainable forest management.
