Hood Industries to Expand Waynesboro, MS, Sawmill Operations
Hood Industries announces $245 million expansion in Waynesboro
Hood Industries and Mississippi officials announced that the company will expand its sawmill operations in Wayne County with a $245 million investment, SuperTalk Mississippi Media reported (9-3-25).
The expansion includes the construction of a new advanced sawmill in Waynesboro, to be built in multiple phases on a site adjacent to Hood’s existing mill. Completion is expected by October 2026.
The Mississippi Development Authority is supporting the project through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive program, along with road and infrastructure improvements. The facility will be powered by Dixie Electric and Cooperative Energy.
Hood currently operates three Southern pine sawmills, including two in Mississippi—Waynesboro and Silver Creek—and one in Louisiana.
