Conifex to Temporarily Curtail Mackenzie, BC, Sawmill
On Friday, Conifex Timber Inc. announced it will temporarily curtail sawmill operations at its Mackenzie, BC, facility for approximately seven weeks beginning May 19, with a target restart in July.
The company said the curtailment is primarily driven by log inventory levels and fiber availability, alongside seasonal logging breakup conditions affecting supply across the BC Interior. Logging operations are expected to resume in early June, subject to weather conditions.
The downtime is expected to reduce supply by approximately 25 million board feet.
Conifex said it continues to advance initiatives to broaden its financing options and remains committed to the Mackenzie region, its employees, and customers, while monitoring conditions closely.
