US Wood Pellet Exports Expand in March
USDA: US Wood Pellet Exports Top 938,662 Metric Tons In March
The US exported 938,662.3 metric tons of wood pellets in March, up from 696,692.9 metric tons in February and from 909,787.1 metric tons in March 2023, a Biomass Magazine review (5-2-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.
The US exported wood pellets to more than 18 countries in March. The UK was the top destination at 554,934.5 metric tons, followed by the Netherlands at 129,622.0 metric tons, Denmark at 94,706.0 metric tons, Japan at 76,995.4 metric tons, the French West Indies at 50,000.0 metric tons, and Belgium-Luxembourg at 29,436.4 metric tons.
The value of wood pellet exports reached $174.33 million in March, up from $135.66 million in February and from $169.43 million in March 2023.
Total wood pellet exports for the first three months of 2024 reached 2.38 million metric tons at a value of $450.03 million, compared to 2.18 million metric tons at a value of $402.08 million during the same period in 2023.
