US Wood Pellet Exports Decline Month-Over-Month but Increase Year-Over-Year in January

The US exported 742,824.6 metric tons of wood pellets in January, down from 1.01 million metric tons in December, a Biomass Magazine review (3-7-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows. However, this is up from 637,518.4 tons in January 2023.

The US exported wood pellets to more than a dozen countries in January. The UK was the top destination for wood pellet exports in January at 525,500.8 metric tons, followed by Japan at 99,218 metric tons and Denmark at 35,780.2 metric tons.

The value of wood pellet exports declined to $140.03 million in January, down from $181.34 million in December 2023 but up from $114.66 million in January 2023.
