US Wood Pellet Exports Decline Month-Over-Month but Increase Year-Over-Year in February

The US exported 696,692.9 metric tons of wood pellets in February, down from 742,824.6 metric tons in January, a Biomass Magazine review (4-4-24) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows. However, this is up from 632,043.8 metric tons in February 2023.

The US exported wood pellets to more than 18 countries in February. The UK was the top destination at 457,710.6 metric tons, followed by Denmark at 129,239.6 metric tons, France at 33,049.6 metric tons, the Netherlands at 31,475.6 metric tons, and Japan at 29,967 metric tons.

The value of wood pellet exports declined to $135.66 million, down from $140.03 million in January but up from $117.99 million in February 2023.

Total wood pellet exports for the first two months of 2024 reached 1.44 million metric tons at a value of $275.69 million, compared to 1.27 million metric tons at a value of $232.65 million during the same period last year.
