US Wood Pellet Exports Decline in November

According to data released on Tuesday by United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service reviewed by Biomass Magazine (1-9-23), the US exported 655,649.2 metric tons of wood pellets in November 2023, down from 835,552.7 metric tons in October and 694,035.4 metric tons in November 2022.

The US exported wood pellets to over a dozen different countries in November. The UK was the top destination for US wood pellet exports in November at 407,458.3 metric tons, followed by Japan at 123,140.1 metric tons and Denmark at 63,317.1 metric tons.

The value of US wood pellet exports fell to $116.84 million in November, down from $155.47 million in October and $119.99 million in November 2022.

Total US wood pellet exports for the first eleven months of 2023 reached 8.53 million metric tons at a value of $1.57 billion, compared to 8.08 million metric tons exported during the same period in 2022 at a value of $1.4 billion.
