US Wood Pellet Exports Decline in February

The US exported 796,490.2 metric tons of wood pellets in February, down from 825,269.9 metric tons in January but up from 696,692.9 metric tons in February 2024, a Biomass Magazine review (4-3-25) of data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.

The US exported wood pellets to more than a dozen countries in February. The UK was the top destination for exports at 506,681.2 metric tons, followed by Denmark at 125,923.4 metric tons and the Netherlands at 92,485.5 metric tons.

The value of US wood pellet exports was $147.92 million in February, down from $257.96 million in January but up from $135.66 million a year earlier.

Total wood pellet exports for the first two months of 2025 reached 1.62 million metric tons at a value of $305.88 million, compared to 1.44 million metric tons at a value of $275.7 million during the same period in 2024.
