US Wood Pellet Exports Decline in August

The US exported 894,320.3 metric tons of wood pellets in August, down from 979,282.7 metric tons in July but up from 775,860.8 metric tons in August 2024, a Biomass Magazine review (11-19-25) of delayed data released by the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service shows.

The US exported wood pellets to approximately 15 countries in August. The UK was the top destination at 617,754.1 metric tons, followed by Japan at 96,618 metric tons and the Netherlands at 65,186 metric tons.

The value of wood pellet exports was $174.89 million in August, down slightly from $183.42 million in July but above the $136.61 million reported in August 2024.

Total wood pellet exports for the first nine months of 2025 reached 6.72 million metric tons at a value of $1.29 billion, compared to 6.47 million metric tons at a value of $1.20 billion during the same period last year.
