U.S. Wood Pellet Exports Declined Month-Over-Month & Year-Over-Year in August 2024

According to data released on Tuesday (10-8-24), by United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Foreign Agricultural Service, the U.S. exported declined to 775,856.9, metric tons of wood pellets in August, down from both the 874,596.1 metric tons exported in July and the 1.01 million metric tons exported in August 2023.

The U.S. exported wood pellets to nearly a dozen countries in August. The U.K. was the top destination for U.S. wood pellet exports at 447,397 tons, followed by Japan at 200,990.1 metric tons and Estonia at 50,000 metric tons.

The value of U.S. wood pellet exports fell to $136.6 million in August, down from $156.44 million in July and $183.02 million in August of last year.

Total U.S. wood pellet exports for the first eight months of 2024 reached 6.51 million metric tons at a value of $1.21 billion, compared to 6.28 million metric tons exported during the same period of last year at a value of $1.16 billion.
