Southern Pine Lumber Exports Rise 4.7% in February
What’s the Story With February 2025 Southern Pine Exports?
According to USDA’s Foreign Agricultural Service Global Agricultural Trade System, with additional analysis from the Southern Forest Products Association (SFPA), Southern pine exports (both treated and untreated) in February were up 4.7% to 40.8 MMBF but remained 15% lower year-over-year.
By value, Southern pine exports totaled $32 million through the first two months of the year, down 4% from the same period in 2024. Mexico was the top destination at $8.4 million, followed by the Dominican Republic at $6.7 million and Canada at $3.3 million. Despite the year-over-year decline, global export value reached a five-month high of $16.5 million.
Treated lumber exports fell 8% year-over-year to $18.3 million, led by shipments to Jamaica ($3 million), the Leeward-Windward Islands ($2.6 million), and the Netherlands Antilles ($2 million).
