Metsä Fibre Starts Talks on Possible 90-Day Layoffs at Four Finnish Sawmills
On Wednesday, Metsä Fibre said it has launched change negotiations on potential temporary layoffs of up to 90 days at its sawmills in Lappeenranta, Rauma, Renko, and Vilppula, Finland.
The company said challenging market conditions for sawn timber and harvesting have created a need for production downtime, prompting the negotiations.
If implemented, the measures could result in all personnel at the four sawmills being laid off for a maximum of 90 days during 2026. The negotiations cover the entire workforce of roughly 350 employees.
