Metsä Group plans to end its plywood production in Suolahti
Metsä Wood plans to discontinue plywood production at its mill in Suolahti, Finland, due to poor profitability. Production at the birch plywood mill is expected to end by the end of 2025Q1 and at the spruce plywood mill by the end of 2026.
The Suolahti mill currently produces 35,000 m3 of birch plywood and 160,000 m3 of spruce plywood annually.
The closure impacts about 370 employees, with efforts to support their employment within Metsä Group, including opportunities at the new Kerto LVL mill in Äänekoski.
