Kronospan Begins Construction on New Chipboard Plant in Italy

In November 2025, Kronospan laid the foundation stone for a new chipboard plant in the industrial area of Ponte Rosso in San Vito al Tagliamento, Italy, Ilfriuliveneziagiulia reported (11-26-25), marking the end of a four-year approval process.

The new facility, valued at about 300 million euros (US$353 million), will include an advanced plant for the production of chipboard panels for the furniture sector, with an annual production capacity of 600,000 m3. The structure will occupy 360,000 square meters, or 89 acres, and is expected to create 210 new jobs.

The project will be built in two phases, with completion targeted by 2028. It will also include an 8-megawatt self-sufficient energy island.

Numerous companies in northeastern Italy will be involved in the construction works. The strengthening of rail connections is expected to ease road traffic and promote a more sustainable logistics model.
