Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Increase Year-Over-Year in February
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) increased 16.0% year-over-year in value in February, from $262.2 million (USD) in February 2023 to $304.2 million in February 2024.
Pine sawnwood exports increased 9% in value, from $50.9 million in February 2023 to $55.6 million in February 2024. In volume terms, exports increased by 15.5%, from 215,200 m3 to 248,600 m3 during the same time period.
Tropical sawnwood exports declined 12.5% in volume, from 24,000 m3 in February 2023 to 21,000 m3 in February 2024. In value terms, exports fell 88.0%—from $12.7 million to $10.4 million—over the same time period.
Pine plywood exports increased 10.0% year-over-year in value, from $51.7 million in February 2023 to $57.1 million in February 2024. In volume terms, exports increased 9%, from 165,700 m3 in February 2023 to 180,300 m3 in February 2024.
Tropical plywood exports tumbled 61.0% in volume and 52% in value, from 4,600 m3 and $2.1 million in February 2023 to 1,800 m3 and $1.0 million in February 2024.
The value of wooden furniture exports increased from $38.6 million in February 2023 to $45.9 million in February 2024—a 19.0% increase.
