Brazilian Exports of Wood-Based Products Increase in September
According to the International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO), Brazilian exports of wood-based products (except pulp and paper) in September increased 20.0% in value compared to September 2023, from US$260.9 million to $313.5 million.
Pine sawnwood exports increased approximately 10.0% in value, from $41.4 million in September 2023 to $45.3 million in September 2024. In volume, exports increased 5.0%, from 182,000 m3 in September 2023 to 190,900 m3 in September 2024.
Tropical sawnwood exports increased 12% in volume, from 23,000 m3 in September 2023 to 25,700 m3 in September 2024. However, export earnings declined 2.0%—from $10.2 million to $10.0 million—over the same period.
Pine plywood exports decreased 40% in value, from $68.0 million in September 2023 to $48.5 million in September 2024. In volume, exports increased 32% over the same period, from 153,400 m3 to 202,900 m3.
Tropical plywood exports increased 33% in value and 35% in volume, from $1.2 million and 2,000 m3 in September 2023 to $1.6 million and 2,700 m3 in September 2024.
The value of wood furniture exports increased from $47.1 million in September 2023 to $51.0 million in September 2024—an increase of 8%.
