Kalesnikoff Announces Construction of Third New Mass Timber Facility in BC

Kalesnikoff Mass Timber, a West Kootenays, BC-based company, announced on Thursday that was it was growing its mass timber product offerings, services, and team through the construction of a new third facility and product lines. The new $34 million (CAD) facility will allow Kalesnikoff to maintain its leadership position in meeting the ever evolving and expanding construction industry’s needs.

According to the press release, the new initiative will further enhance the value-added benefits of Kalesnikoff’s existing supply of exceptional local timber, harvesting operations, and manufacturing facilities and services.

New and expanded products and services will include modular construction, prefabricated mass timber and light frame components, and custom installation-ready products. It will also increase Kalesnikoff’s glue-laminated timber capacity. These developments will complement existing company products and will be used for walls, flooring, and full modular construction mass timber projects.

The new facility will operate locally, complementing Kalesnikoff’s two existing operations, with groundbreaking anticipated soon and a targeted opening by the end of 2024 at a local location to be announced in the coming weeks.

Kalesnikoff’s initial mass timber facility, located in South Slocan, launched in 2019 with 60 jobs and now employs 160 local professionals. The existing Kalesnikoff sawmill and team in Thrums will provide a continuous and secure local fiber supply.
