Czech Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka Features CLT Design

A spiraling structure of cross-laminated timber and glass defines the Czech Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka in Japan, according to a feature by Dezeen (5-12-25).

Timber is central to the pavilion’s design, forming a 260-meter-long gallery that ascends around a circular events space. As the structure rises, it shelters a timber-decked plaza below and culminates in a rooftop observation deck.

Designed by European studio Apropos Architects, the spiraling gallery route is framed by CLT and clad in subtly patterned glass. At the top, the glass panels extend to form a balustrade around the terrace.

Inside, the spiral encloses a 12-meter-high central hall surrounded by stepped seating, intended for performances and lectures.
