Amazon Opens Mass Timber Delivery Station in Indiana

Amazon is providing an inside look at its new mass timber delivery station in Elkhart, Indiana, describing the facility as an exercise in sustainability.

The site, known as “D115,” incorporates more than 40 market-ready technologies and systems designed to reduce resource use and shrink its carbon footprint. The project builds on Amazon’s efforts to improve how it both builds and operates its facilities.

Amazon said D115 serves as one more tool for learning how to make a difference in building design and operations across its broader portfolio.

In remarks about the project, Amazon Vice President of Global Realty Daniel Mallory said:

“We have experimented with and implemented a lot of sustainability initiatives over the year. D115 continues that effort by taking a culmination of lot of big ideas not just in how we operate our facilities, but how we build them. And it’s going to help us as we steadily climb towards our sustainability goals.”
