US Producer Price Index Increases 3.2% Year-Over-Year in February

On Thursday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that the Producer Price Index (PPI) for final demand was unchanged in February, seasonally adjusted. This follows increases of 0.6% in January and 0.5% in December. On an unadjusted basis, the index for final demand increased 3.2% year-over-year.

In February, a 0.3% increase in prices for final demand goods was offset by a 0.2% decline for final demand services.

The index for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services moved up 0.2% in February after posting a 0.3% increase in January. For the 12 months ending in February, prices for final demand less foods, energy, and trade services advanced 3.3%.
