Jobs Openings Fall as Economy Slows
A closer look the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS), with analysis by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), reveals that the number of open construction sector jobsĀ fell from a revised 286,000 in February to 248,000 in March.
NAHB notes that this marks a significant reduction of open, unfilled construction jobs, especially when compared to 338,000 openings a year ago.
The construction job openings rate slipped to 2.9%, significantly down from 4% a year ago.
The layoff rate stayed low at 1.7%, and the quits rate declined to 1.8%.
