S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price Index Continues Upward Trek in September

On Tuesday (11-27-2023), S&P Dow Jones Indices released its S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller US National Home Price NSA Index for September. The Index, which covers all nine US Census divisions, shows 15 of the 20 major metro markets reported month-over-month price increases.

Year-over-year, the Index saw an annual gain of 3.9% in September, up from an annual gain of 2.5% posted in August. The 10-City Composite showed an increase of 4.8% in September, up from a 3.0% increase in August. The 20-City Composite increased 3.9% year-over-year, up from a 2.1% increase in August.

Detroit led the way with a 6.7% year-over-year gain in September, followed by San Diego with a 6.5% increase. Three of the 20 cities reported lower prices in September compared to a year ago.

Before seasonal adjustment, the US National Index, 10-City Composite, and 20-City Composite, all posted a 0.3.% month-over-month increase in September. After seasonal adjustment, the Index and composites each posted month-over-month increases of 0.7%.
