Homeowners Just Not Moving as Frequently as Before

According to the National Association of Realtors® 2019 Profile of Home Buyers and Sellers, people are staying in detached homes for about 10-years, while those in condos usually stay on average 7 – 8 years. However, that information is based on people who actually moved. Those who aren’t moving, and there are a lot more of them, are not only keeping inventory of existing homes for sale tight, but they are also negatively impacting real estate agents, lenders, appraisers, movers and attorneys, all who are players in the buying and selling of homes.
