BC Announces CA$90 Million to Support Tariff-Affected Businesses
New supports for businesses, communities affected by U.S. tariffs
On Friday, BC announced a CA$90 million package aimed at helping businesses affected by tariffs expand production, reach new markets, and protect and create jobs.
The package includes an additional $30 million for the BC Manufacturing Jobs Fund to help businesses invest in equipment, technology, and infrastructure, develop new products, strengthen local supply chains, and improve productivity.
Another $30 million will go to the Integrated Marketplace initiative to help BC technology companies commercialize innovations, secure first sales, and bring new technologies to market.
The government is also providing an additional $15 million for the Rural Economic Diversification and Infrastructure Program to support regional economic infrastructure, while another $15 million will expand the BuyBC program beyond agriculture and support efforts to get more BC products into non-US markets.
The province said the measures build on existing federal support, including funding through regional development agencies such as PacifiCan, the Canada Strong Diversification Fund, Business Development Bank of Canada liquidity support, and worker and employer programs including enhanced Employment Insurance and retraining measures.
