8,700 BMWED Members Ratify New Contract With the National Carriers’ Conference Committee

Over 8,700 members of the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees Division (BMWED) of the Teamsters Rail Conference have voted to approve a new contract with the National Carriers’ Conference Committee (NCCC), FreightWaves reported (3-24-25).

The agreement covers workers from more than 20 railroads who bargained collectively through the NCCC. They include welders, track inspectors, and electricians.

The new contract includes wage increases of 17.5% over the duration of the contract, additional paid vacation time, and improved health care benefits.

In the past year, BMWED has reached substantial agreements with CSX and Norfolk Southern, covering an additional 16,000 members.
