US Dept. Commerce Initiates Eighth Administrative Review of Duties on Canadian Softwood Lumber

On March 9, the US Department of Commerce (DOC) initiated the eighth administrative reviews (AR8) of the antidumping (AD) and countervailing duty (CVD) orders covering certain softwood lumber products from Canada, according to a notice published in the Federal Register.

Each year (unless the case is settled), administrative reviews are conducted to recalculate the AD and CVD rates for shipments during the period of review (January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2025) and to establish new cash deposit rates for future shipments. A company is subject to the reviews if there has been a specific request for review of that company filed by interested parties with the DOC.

The full notice, published in the Federal Register, is available here. DOC said it intends to issue the final results of these reviews no later than January 31, 2027.
