Southern Parallel Forest Products to Close Albertville, AL, Sawmill

Southern Parallel Forest Products Corp., a subsidiary of British Columbia-based Parallel Lumber Group, intends to close its lumber facility in Albertville, Alabama, on April 8, Woodworking Network reported (2-19-26).

Parallel Lumber Group purchased the former Bowater Lumber Co. mill in 2010–11 and reopened the facility in 2013.

At full capacity, company officials previously said the mill was expected to employ about 130 workers and produce more than 100 million board feet of Southern pine dimensional lumber for the US domestic market.
