Roseburg Forest Products Announces Permanent Closure of Its Taylorsville, Mississippi, Particleboard Plant
Springfield, Oregon-based Roseburg Forest Products announced on Friday (6-16-23) that it intends to permanently cease operations at its Taylorsville, Mississippi, particleboard plant on August 21st, 2023.
Originally acquired in 2006 from Georgia Pacific, the Taylorsville particleboard was part of Roseburg’s expansion into the composite panel business. According to a press release, the Taylorsville plant is now among one of the oldest particleboard mills in North American, and the plant’s press equipment and technology have aged to the point where they can no longer compete with newer domestic particleboard mills and the influx of imported products.
While the Taylorsville plant will no longer be producing particleboard, an unnamed forest products company has signed a letter of intent to purchase the facility for an alternative use. The transaction is expected to close later this year, pending completion of standard due diligence and regulatory activities.
