Pixelle to Close Its Chillicothe, OH, Paper Mill in August

Pixelle Specialty Solutions LLC recently announced that it has updated its WARN Act notices to employees at the Chillicothe Paper Mill and plans to cease production at the Ohio facility by August 10.

Since the initial announcement in April, Pixelle said has worked diligently with government and community partners to explore all viable options. Although the original shutdown was temporarily postponed in good faith, declining staffing levels and reduced customer demand have made further delays impossible. Consequently, the updated WARN notice sets August 10 as the final date of operation.

The company will continue working with JobsOhio and federal, state, and local officials to support impacted employees and discuss the site’s future.

While Pixelle is actively exploring potential buyers for the plant, it is preparing to begin decommissioning if no qualified buyer emerges. If a sale does not occur, the company plans to transfer the mill property to an entity designated by JobsOhio or another government agency for nominal consideration, supporting the site’s long-term redevelopment.
