Jasper Lumber Company Nearing Completion of Mill Upgrades in Jasper, AL

Jasper Lumber Company is nearing completion of a long-term, $135 million investment to upgrade its sawmill facility in Jasper, Alabama, Trade & Industry Development reported (4-14-25).

Work began in 2020 and will reach completion in 2026. Through mechanical and technological upgrades to the mill, production capacity will increase to nearly 225 million board feet annually, up from 65 million.

In November 2020, Tolko and Jasper Lumber Company announced a 50-50 joint-venture partnership in Jasper Forest Products, a Southern pine sawmill, shavings business, whole log chipper, and trucking operation. In April 2024, Tolko purchased the other 50% interest in the business and acquired full ownership.

Plant Manager Cliff Beall said:

“This entire investment is based on the dedication of our existing workforce and their commitment to embrace the opportunity to upgrade their skills and operate a state-of-the-art sawmill. We are excited about this project and its positive impact on our employees and the community, and we would like to thank the City of Jasper and the Jasper Industrial Development Board for their support.”
