Interfor Partially Restarts Grand Forks, BC, Sawmill

Interfor partially resumed operations at its Grand Forks, BC, sawmill on November 12, a month after announcing an indefinite shutdown tied to weak market conditions and the impact of a 10% US tariff under Section 232, Trail Times reported (11-14-25). The added tariff lifted the combined antidumping, countervailing, and tariff rate to 45%.

In its latest financial results, the company said its exposure to the duties is limited despite the headwinds, noting that only about 25% of its lumber is exported from Canada to the US. Interfor added that its diversified production base across Canada and the US positions it to manage ongoing uncertainty in the lumber market.
