Hood Industries to Reopen Its Beaumont, MS, Plywood Mill by Early September

Hood Industries expects its plywood facility in Beaumont, Mississippi, which was heavily damaged by a 2022 tornado, to resume operations by early September, according to WDAM7.

Hood President Jay Galloway said crews are now testing the facility’s equipment, with production targeted to begin in late August or early September. Around 100 positions have been filled, with more openings expected next year.

“Jobs are going to be a little bit different this time, a lot more technical and operators and less manual jobs than we had,” Galloway said. “So, everyone should be able to come back. If they choose to return, then yes, we are hiring a large percentage of those who worked there already back.”

The company expects the facility to reach full production by late 2026 or early 2027.
