Fire at RFP Lumber in Oroville, CA, Destroys Building and Equipment

An early-morning fire on Wednesday caused an estimated $300,000 in damage at RFP Lumber, a lumber wholesaler and remanufacturer in Oroville, California, Action News Now reported (7-8-26).

Butte County Cal Fire said firefighters were dispatched to the facility just after 2:15 AM Wednesday and found a building fully engulfed in flames. Crews were still battling hot spots an hour later.

The fire destroyed a building and several pieces of mill remanufacturing equipment. Owner Matthew Ensworth said no one was at the site when the fire broke out.

“It’s definitely gonna hurt us. Luckily, there was no one here. Everybody was safe. We’re a strong company. We’ll get through this, but it’s gonna be painful.”

The business will continue operating where possible while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
