Canfor Pulp Products Announces Permanent Closure of Pulp Line at Prince George Pulp and Paper Mill
Canfor Pulp Products Inc. announced on Wednesday (1-11-23) that following extensive analysis of its operating footprint and the long-term supply of economic residual fiber, a decision has been made to permanently close the pulp line at its Prince George Pulp and Paper mill. The closure will result in a reduction of 280,000 tons of market kraft paper annually. The Specialty Paper facility will continue to operate at the site.
In the press release, the company said that over the next few months, it will be following an orderly wind down process. The pulp line is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2023 and is anticipated to impact approximately 300 positions across the organization by the end of the year.
