BC’s Vanderhoof Specialty Wood Products Curtailment Extends Beyond Initial Timeline
Employees at Vanderhoof Specialty Wood Products (VSWP) in BC have been laid off for more than a month, exceeding the company’s initial three-week curtailment period, CKPG News reported (4-16-26).
VSWP, part of the Brink Group of Companies, notified workers in a March 9 letter that the layoff was intended to be temporary due to “operational challenges” and “recent operational restructuring.” The company said employees would be contacted directly when “a recall is possible,” but did not provide a return-to-work date.
CKPG News said it reached out to the company for comment on whether operations would resume but did not receive a response.
The mill was acquired by Brink from the BID Group of Companies in 2016.
