BC’s San Group Announces Investments to Expand San Forest Products and Acorn Sawmill

British Columbia-based San Group recently announced expansion projects totaling $23 million (CAD) to expand the company’s flagship value-added division, San Forest Products in Port Alberni, and the newly acquired Acorn Sawmill in Delta.

One of the expansion projects is expected to break ground in Q4 of this year and extend into 2023. The company has said that this investment will allow them to develop new markets that will be focused on high-quality shelving products for big box stores.

In addition, Acorn Forest Products will see a new auto grader and dry kiln installed. The company’s Port Alberni mill will see the installation of an Anthem Line—a fully automated system designed to develop edge glued panels extending to eight feet. Both projects are expected to increase mill output and reduce waste.
