BC Provincial and Canadian Federal Government Offer Financial Support to Paper Excellence for Retooling Its Crofton Mill Facility
On Friday (1-20-23), the Government of British Columbia and the Government of Canada announced that they are contributing a combined $18.8 million (CAD) to join with Paper Excellence’s investment in retooling its Crofton Mill facility to manufacture new pulp products that will reduce the need for single-use plastics.
According to the announcement, the funding supports a clean, innovative economy, while supporting jobs for people in the resource sector. It will aid in the production of water-resistant paper packaging to replace single-use plastics, increase the Crofton Mill’s competitiveness, reduce waste from production, and use fewer trees for the same volume of product, all while reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Another positive result of the investment will be the hiring of an additional 100 people to work at the facility.
