New CPKC Rail Connection Expands Bienville Lumber’s Distribution Network

Bienville Lumber Company has begun shipping lumber by rail following the opening of a new Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) connection at its sawmill near Taylor, Louisiana, Woodworking Network reported (7-10-26).

The company, a partnership between Tolko Industries and Hunt Forest Products, said the rail service expands access to regional and long-distance markets while improving supply chain flexibility across North America.

The mill produced more than 160 million board feet of Southern pine lumber in 2024 and plans to more than double annual output over the next several years. It produces multiple grades of lumber, ranging from #2 prime to #4, as well as MSR.

Company officials said the first rail shipments mark the start of a strategic customer relationship with CPKC as the mill continues to expand commercial operations.
