Interfor Plans to Shift Corporate Support Operations From BC to Georgia

Interfor Corp. plans to shift its corporate and functional support operations from Burnaby, BC, to Peachtree City, Georgia, the Financial Post reported (7-28-26).

In a July 9 memo to employees, CEO Ian Fillinger said the Georgia office, located outside Atlanta, will become Interfor’s “primary hub for corporate and functional support.”

The company plans to maintain a West Coast presence as part of a multiyear operational strategy and expects to manage the gradual transition largely through attrition and future hiring decisions.

“There are no layoffs planned as part of this announcement, and your employment with Interfor continues unchanged,” Fillinger wrote. “At the same time, this announcement does not restrict relocation, role-location, or organizational decisions made in the normal course of business, which will continue to follow existing processes.”

The memo did not identify which functions would move to the US or how many positions could be affected. Interfor also did not respond to the Post’s questions about whether it was considering formally relocating its corporate headquarters.

The memo said approximately three-quarters of Interfor’s operations are in the Central, Eastern, and Atlantic time zones. Fillinger said moving support functions closer to those operations would improve coordination, speed, and decision-making for mills and customers.
