Canadian Lumber Production Rises 7.1% Month-Over-Month in October

Statistics Canada (StatCan) released on Friday (1-12-24) the results of its monthly “Sawmills” survey for October 2023. The survey measures the quantities of lumber produced and shipped by Canadian manufacturers.

In October, lumber production in Canada increased 7.1% from September to 4,441.2 thousand cubic meters. Year-over-year, production was up 6.1%.

Sawmills shipped 4,329.1 thousand cubic meters of lumber in October. This is up 10.7% from September and up 3.0% from October 2022.

StatCan notes that the data are subject to revision and are not seasonally adjusted.
