Canada Provides CA$60 Million Loan to Arbec
On Tuesday, Canadian announced that it is providing Arbec Bois d’œuvre Inc. with a CA$60 million loan through the Large Enterprise Tariff Loan facility.
The funding will help Arbec maintain operations, transition toward a business model less reliant on the US, and limit disruption to its workforce.
Arbec operates eight plants across Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean, Mauricie, and Côte-Nord. Its operations include sawmilling, planing, drying, and finger-joint production, and the company employs nearly 800 people.
The government said the financing is part of targeted support for Canada’s softwood lumber industry, intended to protect jobs and strengthen domestic industrial capacity.
